It’s not news to anyone that the World Cup is just around the corner, and we’re sure you’re just as excited as we are! Anticipation has been building for the competition in Qatar, which is the first to be held during the Northern Hemisphere winter, will this affect the designs we see?
With just over a month left to go, teams have been slowly releasing kits ahead of the winter tournament. Designs have been released from the biggest players in the sports industry including Nike and Adidas, let’s take a look through all the World Cup 2022 kits released so far…
Disclaimer: we’re only including kits that have been released at the time of writing this article, and kits that are new to the 2022 season. So if your team is still repping their old kit, sorry, you won’t see them here!
Argentina World Cup 2022 Home Kit
Argentina winning the Copa America with similar camouflage-patterned stripes, seems to have been the inspiration here, with Adidas reworking the Albaceleste’s jersey with a slightly more traditional look for their 2022 World Cup kit.
Argentina World Cup 2022 Away Kit
With a striking purple flame design, we’re sure this kit will go down as a classic! Switching it up from the black and navy, Adidas have gone for something a little different this time, which we always love to see.
Australia World Cup 2022 Home Kit
You’d be forgiven for mistaking this as a Brazil kit, but Nike claim the choices were made to “evoke Australia’s unique ecosystems”
“Through University Gold, Tour Yellow and Green Noise, the home kit conjures the rugged, sandy landscape of the Outback and the rich wetlands and forests.”
Regardless of the reasons, it’s nice to see Australia in something a bit different than their usual kit!
Australia World Cup 2022 Away Kit
“The away kit is a homage to the Australian coastlines and teeming ocean,” Nike says “Obsidian and Green Glow represent the marine life and reefs and signal the deep connection between Australians and coastal life.”
We’re loving the natural inspiration Nike have taken for both the home and away kit for Australia this year. Fun fact: the official label Nike have given to this beautiful shade of blue is ‘Obsidian’
Belgium World Cup 2022 Home Kit
Although we know the fire on the sleeves will be a divisive decision, for a team that calls themselves the Red Devils, it hits the nail on the head! The fire, which is actually made by Adidas from a geometric pattern, will pack a punch on the pitch that no one can argue is boring!
Belgium World Cup 2022 Away Kit
Who said white kits were boring? We certainly didn’t! The new Belgium away kit is striking in it’s design, and Adidas have managed to achieve something clean and simple while still adding some interest with the multi-coloured pattern through the sleeves.
We’ve seen some interesting designs from Belgium recently, so we’re happy to see they’ve paired it back with something simple but effective!
Brazil World Cup 2022 Home Kit
Nike have gone with a classic design here, and updated it in the way Nike always do so well. The subtle pattern through the shirt pays homage to the jaguar, an important symbol to the people of Brazil.
An iconic kit which has been reimagined in a beautiful well. Well done Nike.
Brazil World Cup 2022 Away Kit
We can’t wait to see this one in play! The striking blue and green have been blended together with that same jaguar pattern we saw on the home kit, in a way that will be hard to ignore on or off the pitch!
Something a bit different for Brazil with this one, will it go down as a classic? Tweet us and let us know what you think!
Costa Rica World Cup 2022 Home Kit
Costa Rica boasts our first entry from New Balance and we’re pleased to see they’ve gone for something a bit more subdued this time round. The thick cuffs around the sleeves are a nice touch, and are said to be inspired by the national flag.

Not much to say about this one; same design just in white! Minimal, classy and cohesive from the Costa Rican team this year.
Croatia World Cup 2022 Home Kit
It’s not often you see a centralised badge or swoosh from Nike, and we think it looks great. They’ve taken an iconic design for Croatia and modernised it for this year’s World Cup in Qatar. Is it anything groundbreaking? We wouldn’t say so. But it’s a fine update on an iconic design, and you can’t really go wrong there.
Croatia World Cup 2022 Away Kit
It’s great to see Croatia back in blue after switching it up with a black and grey design for the Euros and purple at the 2018 World Cup in 2018. Before this, you would always see Croatian away shirts in royal blue with red and white checkers, but since then they’ve all had checkers of darker shades of black, grey and blue.
We know this is another divisive one here from Nike; is it a classic, or is it dated? Let us know.
Denmark World Cup 2022 Home Kit
Our first entry from sports brand Hummel who pay homage to the Danes’ Euro 92 victory at this years World Cup, exactly 30 years on. They’ve also chosen to make a poignant political statement with their home, away and third kit designs by choosing to omit their branding for the World Cup in Qatar because of the country’s human rights record. In turn, they have revealed a sponsor-less monochrome kit for the upcoming tournament in protest against the country.
Fifa’s World Cup rules prohibit political statements on team kits, which the three Denmark designs comply with, with no words or symbols displaying an explicit statement. The team badge, Hummel logo and decorative white chevrons (a feature of the Denmark shirt since the 1980) are faded into the same single colour as the shirt, but remain visible.
Other than the toned-down colours, the kit is the same design they wore for their victory 3 decades before. We think this is a beautiful design with a powerful message from Hummel and Denmark.
Denmark World Cup 2022 Away Kit
Following the same message with their away kit, but who said all-white had to be plain? If the home kit wasn’t simple-but-effective enough for you, Hummel have delivered the same idea for the away kit. But wait, there’s more…
Denmark World Cup 2022 Third Shirt
One of only two teams with a third kit at this World Cup, Denmark will wear an all-black third option to honour the migrant workers who died during construction work for the finals tournament.
“The colour of mourning,” Hummel said, “While we support the Danish national team all the way, this shouldn’t be confused with support for a tournament that has cost thousands of people their lives.”
Ecuador 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Another South American nation in yellow, but this kit is more than ready to rival the classic colours of Brazil. The colours work beautifully together and the subtle zigzag pattern will pop in theQatari sun; nothing groundbreaking from Marathon here, but certainly nothing to land itself on this list.
Ecuador 2022 World Cup Away Kit
We wouldn’t have pegged Ecuador to have one of our favourite designs of the season, but Marathon have really blown it out the water with this design. The shades of navy are stunning, the pattern is striking and complex without being distracting and the details on the cuffs feel like a premium choice. 10/10 from Marathon here!
Ecuador 2022 World Cup Third Kit
Maybe underwhelmed is too extreme, but after seeing Ecuador’s first two kits, we’re not blown away by this. The subtle pinstripes add some interest, but this kit is nowhere near as exciting as what we’ve just seen from Marathon’s previous two entries.
England 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Nike have given us a twist on the classic 1996 design, with touches of royal blue and sky blue on the gradient across the shoulders. We’re just not sure on the gradient…
It’s a nice colour, it doesn’t make the shirt look too loud or garish, but does it feel modern? Does it feel like a kit we could win in? We’ll have to wait and see!
England 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Have we hopped in a time-machine back to the 1990’s? A unanimously popular design, this subtle yet stunning design has clear inspiration from the classic designs of the 90s, using the same blue tones from the home kit with England’s classic red.
France 2022 World Cup Home Kit
It’s never a surprise to see France in zavy blue, winning their second world title in Moscow wearing the same shade of blue.
Nike have kept with the theme with this new France home shirt, this year the designs are simpler, with gold touches for the numbers, logos and flourishes.
France 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Now this is how you add a twist to a classic white kit! According to Nike, this kit is inspired by French toile de Jouy with iconic symbols included in the design, such as the nation’s Cockerel image in their badge, the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and the country’s Clairefontaine youth academy.
Germany 2022 World Cup Home Kit

A fresh, modern feel for the four-time champions from Adidas, the new home kit for Germany boasts touches of gold and is beautifully simple and sophisticated. We wish there was a bit more colour perhaps? But another kit with a centralised badge is always nice to see, and the gold feels absolutely majestic.
Germany 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Adidas have given Germany another black and red change strip, this one reminding us of the iconic hooped top of 2014. We’re not sure this one will be one that makes a lasting impression, but it’s well-designed and feels uniquely German-esque, so for that we can’t complain.
Ghana 2022 World Cup Home Kit
A tad plainer than we’ve seen from Ghana before, but Puma have brought the colour through the cuffs and given us the traditional black star in the centre of the chest. Not much else to say about this one!
Ghana 2022 World Cup Away Kit
The home kit might be plain but the away kit is everything but! You can’t say we’ve seen anything like this before in World Cup kit design, and the colours are beautifully bright. But we would argue the design is perhaps a bit strange, and will probably look even stranger without a number. Let’s wait to see it in action, shall we?
Iran 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Since departing from Adidas in favour of Iranian sports brand Majid, Iran’s national colours are seen in flashes across the chest. It’s pretty simple, and the away kit doesn’t have much to shout about either…
Iran 2022 World Cup Away Kit
…because it’s exactly the same just in red.
Japan 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Adidas have brought Japan a stunning pattern, cohesive design, and something that just feels so classic for Japan. It’s no ‘Great Wave’ but we would still say it’s a triumph with a pattern that’s more subtle than you’d think at first glance, and we’re sure will look beautiful in the Qatar sun.
Japan 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Keeping the geometric lines from the home kit and carrying them into the base of the top was a smart move from Adidas. This beautiful away shirt gives a striking 3D effect when there’s a crossover between the two blue and red colours, and to tie it all in, the socks even have the same pattern all over them.
Mexico 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Back in green for the 2022 World Cup with a stunning eagle-inspired pattern, Adidas have given Mexico a bold design which we always love to see. The touches of red on the shoulders are a lovely detail and the new badge is absolutely fantastic. We love it
Mexico 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Adidas weren’t lacking in punchiness when they got the sketchbooks out for Mexico this year! Using only two colours to create this gorgeous pattern, inspired by their Aztec history, Mexico have gone even bigger and bolder than we’ve ever seen before; and we love it. It even made our list of iconic football kits!
Morocco 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Another entry from Puma, and throwing it back to a similar design Morocco had in the 1998 top which also had the green bar across the centre. Nothing too exciting, but not offensive either!
Morocco 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Puma came under a bit of fire for their away shirt designs this season and we don’t think this one is much butter; not the worst by far, but certainly not the best. We’re not a huge fan of the ring on the front, but overall this is pretty plain and uninspired.
Netherlands 2022 World Cup Home Kit
“A dancing swirl of Orange Peel and Laser Orange evokes the mane of a lion, the historic symbol of the Low Countries, and represents the fluidity of the Total Football tactical system,” Nike claims.
But does it feel Dutch? We’re not arguing this isn’t striking and the touches of black contrast beautifully against the gold, but it wasn’t what we were expecting from the Netherlands for this World Cup. Interested to see it in action, though!
Netherlands 2022 World Cup Away Kit
This particular shade of blue is almost purple and Nike have integrated black into this Netherlands away shirt, with a reddish-orange used for the logos. Simple, yet effective.
Poland 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Poland have never been known for out-there designs, and their 2022 World Cup kit is no different. Nike have used a subtle grey pattern across the shoulders to add some interest to this otherwise pretty-plain design.
Poland 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Poland’s away shirt this time around is red (is that a surprise to anyone) with very little embellishment other than some design around the cuffs and collar. Not much else to say about this one, so moving on…
Portugal 2022 World Cup Home Kit
With a lighter tone of red than we’ve seen from Portugal’s last two kits, Nike have also amended the gold to a more yellow tone. But doesn’t it seem a bit familiar?
The new Portugal home kit from Nike uses a diagonal block of colour in exactly the same corner as we saw earlier from Monaco’s new kit. It’s more green than we’ve seen on a shirt from Portugal before too, will there be some kit clashes ahead?
Portugal 2022 World Cup Away Kit
“The away kit uses Sail White, an off-white tone, to ensure the Portuguese stands out in a sea of bright white kits,” Nike says of their away kit design for Portugal.
There’s some nice details through this kit, with the cuffs around the neck and shoulders in the same navy as the swoosh, and the block of colour across the chest is a nice touch. Plus, it’s nice to see it’s not another light green, so that’s something.
Qatar 2022 World Cup Home Kit
When you’re hosting your first World Cup, you want your kit to be immaculate; and we think Nike have executed that beautifully. The deep red taken from their flag works beautifully on its top, and another centre badge and swoosh design from Nike here.
Qatar 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Although some may argue the beige is veering on tea-stained paper (you know when you had to make something look old in primary school History class?) we like the way the pattern comes through and it contrasts wonderfully with the deep red on the badge and swoosh. Another solid effort from Nike.
Saudi Arabia 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Nike have brought back Saudi Arabia’s iconic leaf pattern from their last away kit in a way that’s subtle but effective. We love the green tone they’ve chosen for the swoosh and cuff around the neck – why they didn’t choose the same colour for the badge? We’re asking the same thing.
Saudi Arabia 2022 World Cup Away Kit
In keeping with their tradition of bold away kits, Nike have given Saudi Arabia another loud pattern which is certain to stand out on the pitches of the World Cup stage. Love it or hate it? Let us know!
Serbia 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Puma’s home kits have been pretty strong this tournament and Serbia’s home kit is no different, with a simple but effective shirt that does exactly what you’d expect. A strong punchy red and touches of gold, what’s not to like?
Serbia 2022 World Cup Away Kit
And straight back to another not-so-great away kit from Puma again. The shiny gold looks cheap on this otherwise completely plain white shirt, and the gold box on the front verges on Christmas-y.
South Korea 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Nike have kept this coral-red colour which has become synonymous with South Korean kits now, and we’re sure this will become another in a long line of classics from the nation.
The tiger stripes from their last away shirt are back in a subtle graphic on the shoulders, leaning in on that Red Devils nickname they have.
South Korea 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Of all the kits we’ve looked at, this one definitely has ‘fun’ written all over it. We love the playfulness Nike have brought to this away kit, with the black base colour and jagged stripes, almost crayon-esque, covering the kit in various colours.
Spain 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Timeless, classic, modest. Adidas have gone against the grain of bold graphics and loud patterns we’ve seen all over this tournament and really taken this back to basics. But have they pared things back too far? We’re undecided.
We like the simplicity, the classic feel you get with this kit. But it feels like something we’ve seen before time and time again. Are we in the era of one or the other: boring or too much? Let us know what you think!
Spain 2022 World Cup Away Kit
If Adidas decided to go for a home top that could never be divisive, did they purposefully design an away kit that would clearly have people sitting in either the ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ camp?
The mix of blues in this away kit doesn’t look too loud at all but the pattern feels a bit optical illusion-like for us, and then you when you factor in the red and yellow stripes. It’s a lot, but perhaps not in a bad way? We do love the national flag represented in the Adidas stripes on the shoulders though.
United States 2022 World Cup Home Kit
“The 2022 USA collection serves as a symbol of national pride and draws inspiration from the United States’ diverse and storied sport legacy,” Nike says. “The iconic U.S. uniform design cues include bold stripes, an enlarged centre crest akin to basketball jerseys, double Swooshes on the sleeves reminiscent of those used on American football jerseys, the unique shoulder and sleeve cut-and-sew construction and pattern of a hockey jersey, and timeless block lettering.”
You read that right, the swooshes are on the sleeve rather than on the body of the kit itself. However, they have mirrored this on the right sleeve too, which is the first time the brand have ever done this internationally in football.
United States 2022 World Cup Away Kit
Nike claim they’ve used a “ice-dying technique” on the away kit to create a “vibrant pattern to celebrate diversity and youth.”
Whatever technique they’ve used, we like this as a design, it’s one of the more memorable ones we’ve seen from a US away kit anyway.
Wales 2022 World Cup Home Kit
Adidas have deepened the crimson-red we previously saw in the 2020 Euro kit and brought back a vintage colour combination for Wales’ first World Cup in 64 years. We love the zig-zag pattern, while the green from the crest is perfectly matched to the round collar.
Wales 2022 World Cup Away Kit
We’d argue this is one of the nicest away shirts we’ve seen from Wales in a while, with a fantastically retro feel. The patter in the cuff around the collar is bold and fun, and we’re excited to see this in action in the coming games.
